canada eh...

well day four is over, and we made it to canada. the weather was much better today, very minimal rain, more sunshine, and less wind. I can say that by the end of the day it was a little cold, about 45 degrees. i was shivering by the time we got to the hotel, robs feet were a little cold. lets hope for warmer temperatures tomorrow.

so we headed north out of missoula. our plan was to head over to glacier national park and drive the road through the park. a couple of hours of driving and we find ourselves at the gateway to the park. we head in to a gift shop so we can pick up a sticker to tattoo our bikes with. rob asked the guy at the cash register what the road conditions were. he informed us that it had snowed the night before and there had be an avalanche, yes, you read correctly, an avalanche. bummer no we have to drive around the park. this is bad for two reasons, one is its 51 more miles and two we can see what we came to see.

we head out on hwy 2 around the park. both rob and i were very pleasantly surprised to find some of the most awesome mountains we have seen. take a look at the pics, they all look like something bob ross would paint. 360 degrees of lakes, fields, snow capped mountains, trees, etc. as we motored on every turn revealed more jagged mountains. we probably stopped 10 times for pictures.

after we drove around the park we were back on track and nearing canada. with our final destination being leathbridge. we pulled up to the canadian customs. the agent asked us where we were going, we answered and he asked, with a confused look on his face, "why you goin there eh". rob explained why and he seemed ok with it. his main concern was that we didnt have any firearms. after a full body cavity search we were all done with customs. took a few pics and we were off and running. hour or so later and we were pulling up to the hotel. got some dinner and passed out. we were both beat.

it was 380 mile day. all in all a very easy ride. one item to note both rob and i seem to be going through our rear tires very fast. were are both about 1/3 through the tread. this will present a problem down the line. hopefully we can find a shop and pick up new rear tires down the line.
