dawson city, yee ha

so we made it to dawson city today. altogether not much of a haul to get here. about 300 miles from our last crash point. strangely enough that doesn't feel like much when we were pulling 500 mile days on a regular basis.

during the ride both mike and i agreed that our dads would 1/ grill some serious history lessons into our heads for the entire time we were in dawson; 2/ jockey for first position, without of course making it appear competitive, about who knows more about the old west; 3/ be fascinated with the old-west '49er type atomosphere where everyone dresses in period garb like they do here in good 'ol dawson; and 4/ be amazed that we were not as thrilled with the similar period rooms available in good 'ol dawson.

i recognize that i signed up to rough it. but this here town is tip top. not only do we get rock hard beds that make us question why we aren't camping. we get wifi service that doesn't work when its supposed to...and we get attitude when asking why.

needless to say. we're not going to be as available for the next day or so when we crawl up the dempster. i believe that mike is going to try and blog tomorrow ... we'll see what happens. anyway, just wanted to let folks know we made it and that we're going to have a fun ride up the all-gravel dempster highway.

oh, to bert: we don't know what the red blotches are.
and to my folks: i figured that a grizzly would be dangerous, hence the reason i didn't try to cuddle with the bear.
